Vignetting Part 1 – Simple Methods

Vignetting Part 1 – Simple Methods

vignetteVignetting is the darkening (or lightening) of an image towards the corners of the frame – in the past vignettes were avoided as they implied lens distortion, however, in digital photography, Vignettes, when used correctly, have become a very popular means to provide a simple, and sometimes subtle way, to guide the viewer’s eye through an image.

In this, part 1 of a focus on vignetting, we have provided 2 Actions that create a vignette which darkens or lightens the image corners and 1, the most subtle, that creates a vignette based on the average colour of the image. Each Action only needs to be run to completion;  You can modify the Blend Mode if it’s too dark or light, or alternatively, experiment by changing the Blend Mode.
